Redesigned Redesigned Bad Ad

I played around a little with my last assignment and made some changes based on comments from critique. I do like the white box at the bottom but am still not quite sure about the text off of the ladies face.

Getting Ready for Freak Show

I plan to use the modular grid deconstructed via chance operation.  (Whew, that was a mouthful).  I'll try to add the image at a later time.

I had a hard time picking a designer for inspiration.  I really liked all of their works, particularly Milton Glaser, April Greiman, and Neville Brody.  At this point, I'm going to pick April Greiman and hope I made the right decision!

My list of 10 words are:

intrigue - arouse the curiosity or interest of

interesting - holding or catching the attention

unusual - not habitually or commonly occurring or done

aberration - a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected

curious - strange, unusual

nature - the basic or inherent features of something

Redesigned Bad Ad

This is my final draft of my redesigned bad ad.  It came out better than I thought, and was surprised how hard it was since it's such a small ad (2 inches x 2 inches).  I had to print a few times to make sure the font was big enough.

First Attempt at Ad in Ai

I finally started to work on my ad in Illustrator.  Here's my first attempt.  I'll probably keep studying it and make more changes before I bring it to class.

FreakShow

We made it to the FreakShow on Friday.  I brought my 4 year old son with me and he enjoyed everything except the live show.  His favorite was the dog, Rocky.  Everyone there was wonderful.  The owner was great with my son, as well as this clown who kept asking him for high-5's!

Here are some redesigned ads.  I've had a horrible cold and I'm glad to finally feel better.  I tried to redesign the best I could despite missing the info in class.  Of course, my roughs are pretty rough.

Redesigned Bad Ad Roughs

Here are my roughs for the bad ad of the Alaskan Handknits.  I tried to play around with the placement of the objects, overall layout, and images.  I tried to emphasize the product more by placement and considering a close-up image of the knit.  I also tried to create a better flow of the advertisement.
